Action-filled days

DAY 1 (Example schedule)

After checking in, Brain Camp attendees learn about the brain and its parts by building their own brain models out of playdoh and constructing neurons out of pipe cleaners. After a break for morning tea, students have a friendly competition to see who can put together their 3D brain puzzle the fastest. 13 seconds is the current Brain Camp record! Then they dive in to investigate the neural code by playing a fun and challenging code breaking game where they play the role of a neuron trying to communicate with another neuron in the brain. After lunch, students explore how the sense of touch works by performing a fun scientific experiment to map how touch is felt across the body surface. After an afternoon snack break, kids get dazzled by a wide array of puzzling visual illusions and then create some visual illusions of their own to fool their friends. That ends fun-filled Day 1.

DAY 2 (Example schedule)

Day 2 begins outdoors with a fun, interactive activity that begins to reveal how we locate sounds in space using our ears and our brains. After morning tea, students return to the classroom to build a neural circuit of their own using dominos. As part of this activity, friendly competition between groups happens to see who can get their dominos to fall exactly as they planned. After lunch, they run an experiment to test how the brain controls the movements of their body. Finally, they run an experiment that allows them to observe and record their own arm muscle activity while they flex and relax their arm. At the end of Brain Camp, students will receive a certificate of completion.
